Privacy Policy

Overview

FundMonkey is a public information tool. You don't need to create an account, log in, provide an email address, or submit any personal details to use it. Browsing the site requires only that your browser make HTTP requests to our server, like any other website.

Information we do not collect

• We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other identifying information from visitors.
• We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
• We do not set advertising cookies. We do not set any cookies at all.
• We do not sell, share, rent, or transfer visitor data to any third party.
• We do not profile users or build behavioural advertising audiences.

Browser local storage

FundMonkey saves certain user preferences in your browser's local storage (a feature of your browser, similar to cookies but private to the site). This information stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. It includes:

• Your tracked funds (the "portfolio" star list)
• Your colour palette and layout preferences
• Your sector selection mode (single or multi-select)
• Whether you have dismissed the disclaimer footer or storage notice

You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for fundmonkey.co.uk. Clearing the data resets your preferences but does not affect your access to the service.

Server access logs

Like virtually all web servers, our infrastructure (nginx running on a Hostinger VPS) records standard HTTP access logs. Each request appended to those logs includes:

• Your IP address
• The date and time of the request
• The URL requested and the HTTP response code
• The browser user-agent string
• The referring URL, if your browser sent one

We use these logs for the legitimate operational purposes of:

• Diagnosing site errors and performance issues
• Identifying and blocking abusive automated traffic (scraping bots, vulnerability scanners)
• Generating aggregate visitor statistics (request counts by URL, time of day, geographic region) using GoAccess, an open-source log analyser that runs locally on our server and does not transmit data anywhere

Logs are rotated and removed automatically over time. We do not link log data to individual users (we couldn't — there's no account system) and we do not share logs with third parties except where compelled by law.

Email contact

If you choose to email us at info@fundmonkey.co.uk, we will receive and store that email along with any information you choose to include in it. We use this only to respond to your enquiry. We do not add email correspondents to any mailing list.

Third-party services

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser fetches these fonts, Google receives the standard request information described above (IP address, user-agent, referring page). We have no control over Google's processing of that information; their privacy policy applies.

We do not embed any other third-party scripts, analytics, advertising networks, social media widgets, or tracking pixels.

Children's data

FundMonkey is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Where we hold any personal data about you (in practice, only server access log data linked to your IP address, and any emails you have sent us), you have the following rights:

• Access — ask for a copy of data we hold
• Rectification — ask for correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure — ask for deletion of data we hold
• Restriction — ask us to limit how we use data
• Objection — object to our processing of data
• Complaint — complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@fundmonkey.co.uk. Note that for IP-based log data, we usually cannot identify which logs relate to a specific individual unless you provide additional context such as the approximate time and pages visited.

Data security

The site is served over HTTPS. Server access is restricted to the site operator. We make reasonable technical efforts to protect the limited data we hold, but no internet service can guarantee perfect security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL with the "Last updated" date refreshed.
